Duluth, Minnesota
Another rest day and a lot of running around. We visited Twin Ports Bike Shop, Enger Tower overlooking Duluth, Two Harbors lighthouse, super-good lunch at Rustic Inn Cafe & Gifts in Castle Danger, and Gooseberry Falls, We also scoped out where we'll pedal east tomorrow morning. For the rest of today's meanderings, I'm just posting photos.
This is a Wow bike shop in a residential area of Duluth. It has been a local bike shop since 1975, full of great bicycle gear, parts, and clothing for cyclists. Great shop!
I told you! If I lived in Duluth, the guys here would probably get tired of seeing me. I bought some chain lube for the rest of the ride.
Enger Tower overlooking Duluth. Eighty-four steps in the tower get you to the top for a great view of the city below.
There are green, rolling hills around Duluth. (I thought you'd rather see that than all the train tracks.)
Flower. (That's all I know. It was on the path, with many more like it, to Gooseberry Falls.)
Upper Gooseberry Falls.
At the end of the breakwater wall at Two Harbors. The ladder at the left goes up into a light house.
I'm guessing the fog signal is to keep large ore ships from hitting the breakwater wall. A large ship was waiting on the lake side of the wall to come into the harbor. Another ship in the harbor was holding up the docking process.
Two Harbors Lighthouse Museum. The lighthouse on has shown the way since April 14, 1892 overlooking Lake Superior's Agate Bay. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on Minnesota's North Shore. The light shines an average of 17 nautical miles.
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." -Matthew 5:16
Shine!
